Projects
International Church Life
Survey
This project will result in the largest and most representative profile of
church participants and their congregations ever developed in the United States.
Funded by a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., the project is being
conducted in cooperation with parallel studies in Australia, England, and New
Zealand.
The two primary goals are:
 |
to provide a close look at congregational vitality to help parishes and
congregations understand how they can renew and enrich their mission; and
|
 |
to describe the American religious landscape based on input from worship
attendees in a random sample of parishes and congregations across the United
States.
|
The study explores three dimensions of religious life: faith development,
community involvement, and attracting new members. Parishes and congregations
were randomly selected for the study. Surveys were given in April 2001. Results
from the study began to be released in late 2001.
