DIOCESAN DOCUMENTS
"Signposts Pointing to the Future," a pastoral letter written by Bishop John Cummins, contains the theological and ecclesiological principles that are the foundation for the vision of the Church that will guide us into the future.

"Brothers and Sisters in More than Name," prepared by the Strategic Planning Group, summarizes the hopes and dreams of many Catholics living in the Diocese of Oakland about the kind of Church they want to be part of.

"The Role and Mission Statement of the Central Administration of the Diocese of Oakland," written by the Strategic Planning Group, clarifies and concretizes the four major goal areas and objectives which strategic planning must address and achieve (28 pp., no charge).

FAITH IN THE SERVICE TO THE WORLD
Contains the recommendations for action. This book is the strategic plan for the Diocese of Oakland. It is the document that concludes a five-year strategic planning process (Spanish/English, 106 pp., $4).

THREE YEARS LATER--AN UPDATE ON THE STRATEGIC PLAN
Three years later Faith in Service to the World looks at what was accomplished, what was still being discussed, and what was not being done (Sept. 1997, 15 pp., no cost).

THE TEN ESSENTIALS OF PARISH LIFE
Developed by the Diocesan Pastoral Council to give guidance to parish life. Used by some as an evaluation for parish ministries (1992, English/Spanish, 22 pp., $2).

DIOCESAN PASTORAL COUNCIL GUIDELINES
Reestablished a DPC after a five-year break.  The new guidelines are flexible and brief (June 1997, 2 pp.,).

ECCLESIAL LAY MINISTERS COUNCIL MISSION
We are forming a diocesan council to represent the needs of professional or career ministers. Like the presbyteral council and deacon council, this will be a consultative body (Sept. 1998, 3 pp.).

DIVISION OF PASTORAL LIFE:  THE DEANERY
Mission statements for directors of division for deanery.  Job descriptions for director of division and dean. Diocese divided into 5 regions and 23 deaneries (11 pp., no charge).

The Conference for Pastoral Planning & Council Development is a professional membership association that promotes and advocates consultative processes that foster effective planning for the pastoral life of the Church.
